Of Counsel, LLC is a limited liability company based in the Chicagoland area, established and managed by Susanne M. Kinsella, J.D. Her research skills are excellent, and she possesses keen analytical skills, as well as the ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ms. Kinsella has dedicated her legal career to building and refining her legal research and writing skills. In law school, she received the highest mark in her legal writing class and subsequently served as a teaching assistant in the legal research and writing program. After graduation from law school, she entered private practice, handling both civil and criminal matters at various stages of litigation through appeal. Since 2002, she has taught legal research and writing, instructing students on the fundamentals and the art of legal research and writing.

Ms. Kinsella established Of Counsel because of the need she saw in the practice of law. Knowing the right black letter law and understanding how that law applies to your unique set of facts is crucial to every aspect of a case. In fact, a well-written brief, based upon quality legal research, can be the difference between winning and losing a case. Despite this, she noticed that most attorneys just do not having enough time in the day to conduct all of the necessary, but labor intensive, legal research and writing for their clients. This was especially true when a solo practitioner or small law firm was up against a larger firm with more attorneys and unlimited resources. Often times, instead of winning or losing on the merits, larger firms gained the advantage by engaging in a battle of attrition, which small firms and solo practitioners simply couldn't handle. Of Counsel allows solo practitioners and small firms to become more competitive and afford their clients the best results possible.
